Thanks for the site, I just rescued this Weber Kettle grill at a neighbor's garage sale.  From you age guide it seems to be a 75 – 76 year model.  I think this is a light grey color.  From the earlier catalogs I did not see a grey model.  I did not see a catalog for 75 or 76 so not sure what colors they offered.  I have been accused of being color blind by the wife so not sure but it did not seem green to me.  It needs some work and looking forward to cleaning it up and firing up the coals.

Welcome to the Wkc ‍♂️
What you have is a faded black.
It is currently assembled caddy wampus. Pull the legs off and put them back on with the front leg centered under the handle. It will roll around easier that way.

@Kneab looks like you were right about the black, as I was removing the legs to fix the caddy wampus one was rusted in the socket.  After spraying some WD40 and wiping up the excess a nice dark Black appeared.

@Mikeyd I completely agree Black Hills is the best. I just retired from military and it was the #1 Choice to our forever home.  Now were living on 3 acres of heaven.

Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

Well all cleaned up, fixed caddy wampus, added some band clamps to hold ash tray and grilling perfect burgers over some hickory chunk charcoal.  Funny after cleaning off the WD 40 on outside and drying it returned to the faded grey.

That is a beautiful kettle and a great view!

We call those Faded kettles... Weathered Warriors.

I have a couple that I am quite proud of.  Its what happens on the Inside of the Kettle that gets me all excited!

Looking good!!

Ok last repair was the handle.  I was hiking the hills and came across this great branch that had some cool bug trails just under the bark and turned it into a handle.  I may not be a master woodworker but not bad for a old aircraft crew chief.   8)   Time to grill!!

Like the custom handle.  I like the new "original" handles available through this site too...but making something cool yourself is awesome.  Nice find on the grill.
