Like to make a Redhead Performer
« on: October 12, 2018, 09:27:50 AM »
So far as I have seen, I can’t find a Red Performer.
I have a Red Kettle that is about a month old.

If I were to buy a Performer table, can I transplant a new
limited edition Red kettle into it?

That’s is a definite possibility.  You can’t fabricate mounting brackets, or find ‘em online.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Here's some example.  Brackets are made by a member here @qwesthunter. Just PM him for availability.

In the middle of doing this myself on a non-assist SSP frame.  @GrillGiant set me up with an LE bowl on the cheap.  I had a nasty dented and rusted black performer bowl, and excised the brackets.  For the time being, I'm using the beat up old ash bucket assembly that came with the SSP and the lid from my MBH redhead.  I'll also have to deal with removing the bowl handle . . .

16ga galvanized mirror-hanging wire to hold the old-school bucket assembly in place:

Sure! you need to mount table brackets onto a LE kettle. Mark off and drill holes on you new Red LE and bolt on the brackets others are talking about.  Plenty info regarding this subject. The SEARCH button at the top of this page is your answer. Jules V has a thread on this exact Red LE transplant and I have one on the first page of Mod section. Search for other great threads on this subject.

If I find a performer with the gas assist, is it just drill an access hole into the base
unit?
Is the gas assist worth having? I use a chimney and that works good enough for me.
