Hurricane Flo
« on: September 20, 2018, 01:43:33 PM »
Tonight is our 6th night without power. I’ve been cooking breakfast & dinner every day on a Weber kettle. On Sunday I spilled hot bacon grease down the shin of my left leg and into the croc I was wearing. My wife put a cold rag on it and sprayed some  meds for bug bites and sun burn and I finished cooking breakfast. I went to our local FD and ask them to wrap my leg. When I woke up Monday and removed the wrapping I was shocked how bad the burn really was. My local doctor was without power but at his office. The look on his face scared me a little when he saw my burn. His nurse cleaned it and wrapped it and told me not to pop the blisters. I couldn’t go 12 hours without bumping into a gas can and popping the big one! From Monday morning to Tuesday night my leg went  from a bad burn to looking like a scene from the walking dead. I replay Sunday morning breakfast over and over in my mind, that split second change my life forever. Be careful sisters & brothers! Please be warned, the pictures I’ll add later are very graphic.

Wow. That’s a serious burn. Did the doc give any antibiotics?

I agree. That looks like it needs immediate attention.

It’s your leg but it will be harder to grill with only one.

Tetanus shot, clean & wrap twice a day. We are watching it for infection. It hurts like hell, but I’ve worked everyday this week.

ER trip for sure, that’s open to some serious infection
