My Happy Cooker has a hinged lid, but I haven't actually tried it yet.

I’ll stick with my 1979 Happy Hooker Cooker, thank you.

Hal

@Martin75 It sounds like you saw it in person.  There seems to be a lot going on with the hinge.  I'm curious if it disconnects or "expands" so you can use a rotisserie ring.  Any idea?

Wow! I've only read the rumors about the upcoming new MT with a hinged lid on another forum. And, there it is! Most likely, it will be available in Europe 1st!
So, you are right . I saw the new Master Touch with hinged lid on Spoga.  It looks like standart Master Touch, but only for the first view.  The lid hinge is quite massive, it works excelent.  The lid fits excelent on the kettle, no gaps between.

I can be wrong but looking at the pics you can place the hinge there where the handle is located and v.v. This way the issue with the vent right above coals would be simply solved.

But then you're stuck with a caddywhompus grill... or even more caddywhompus than it already looks.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the defuser and want one ASAP.

Thanks @RRRanger99
The blog has more info, some good pics, including a cutaway.
For anyone who wants the short answer to what is going on with the hinge, it is a "Spring loaded removable Lid Hinge - allowing you to remove it to add a rotisserie."

Rotisserie ring could be used - you can take off the lid from the hinge. Without tools.  After then Rotisserie ring fits on the kettle

All of my Weber's have removable lids! Just the way I like them. No connections, hinges, etc. to fool with. Just lift off. Simplicity at it's best!

It looks that there are not so many fans of the new MT. I'm sticking however to what I wrote.

Interesting design. I want a diffuser plate for my existing kettles.
