Better and improved weber chimney.
« on: August 27, 2018, 03:37:22 PM »
Rarely use a chimney but decided to put one together using a leftover ventilated 10 gauge ss sheet.  Wider  at 8 1/2"  compare to the 7 1/4" weber and shorter by 2".  Capacity is slightly more since the grate is more than 2" lower. Reused the weber grate and heat shield assembly . Strap is 1/8" ss attached to  the wooden handle using a 5/16 threaded rod.

Super cool!

So... do you ever plan on using it?  Or just keep it shiny and admire (and show off) your craftsmanship?  '-)

Any thoughts on whether it will be more or less effective with all the ventilation?

How will this hold up over time? Should one try to use a thicker gauge steel?

That chimney is very easy to put together and should take only an hour.  Only tools needed is a drill or grinder to remove the rivets, a couple of wrenches, and 2 metal pipes to shape the ss sheet. Bolt goes through the existing holes.

Actually it's only $19.99. Shipping and handling is $179.99.  But wait there's more, if you order within the next 1 hour, you get 2 for the price of 1.  Just pay for a separate shipping and handling. Sales tax not included[emoji3]
