Favorite bbq sauce?
« on: June 24, 2018, 08:27:21 AM »
I'm aware this may cause some disagreements, but I'm curious to what people use for different foods, being that I'm pretty basic with Stubb's and Sweet Baby Ray's, so I would like to broaden my options.

Montgomery inn on chicken [emoji106]

I still use some open pit once in awhile on chicken. [emoji12]

Swamp boys on pork.

I still use sweet baby rays thinned with a little cider vinegar.

Kc masterpiece once in awhile.

I like famous Dave’s on ribs.

I don’t really have a favorite. I like variety.

This one will probably run the gamut as everyone’s palate is different.

I’ve tried a ton of commercial sauces.

At home, I normally use the Heinz Pitmaster sauces (specifically Carolina Mustard, Texas). I use the mustard sauce on just about everything and while it doesn’t taste quite like a homemade mustard sauce, it’s priced right and tasty from the bottle when I need a quick fix. It’s my go-to for a BBQ burger or with French fries. The Heinz Pitmaster sauces are cheap, junk free, and taste really good. Get them at Target/Walmart for $2 each.

Straight from the bottle Swamp Boys original is the closest thing I have found to the sauce I used to make at a rib joint in college (and still make on occasion). I really like the flavor profile. Great on everything.

Killer Hogs BBQ sauce is a little more molasses forward. I’d try a bunch and see where your palate takes you.

I am very biased as this is my own sauce, but I wouldn't have put it into production if i didn't love it. Ribs, chicken, pork and brisket.

Many online retailers carry it.

I usually get it from Big Poppa Smokers when I’m reordering supplies.

I am partial to Stick Fingers (local chain) Carolina Classic. It is sold in grocery stores nation wide and it is a really good mustard based sauce. You can buy it online as well: https://www.stickyfingers.com/product/sticky-fingers-bbq-sauce-carolina-classic/
Their Sweet Southern Heat is also good if you like some spice in your sauce.
