Serial #'s on top vents
« on: May 21, 2013, 03:54:33 PM »
Did you guys Know that the new Kettles have a laser engraved serial number on the top vent in addition to the familiar date code? The ones set up at the hardware store were "AU" and "AT" Some of them has the additional serial and some didn't but I presume that the new ones will have it.

I will have to check the dampers I just got. I think they only have AT.

Huh, my AT WSM doesn't have one.  Then again, I picked up my '13 WSM in November....
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Where were the serial numbers on the old units? When I was scrubbing my SS performer yesterday I noticed a white sticker with some black lettering under one of the panels. However, as soon as I hit it with the brush, it became a solid white sticker with no lettering.

That would have been it.  The OTS I got at target had that white sticker.  I have watched it turn into carbon as I have used the grill.  Paper sticker on a grill bowl??? Wtf were they thinking?  Might as well have put it inside the grill....
