A couple of fatties on the yellow
« on: December 23, 2017, 08:48:58 AM »
I’ve not tried these on the kettle before, I usually always smoke them. Today I have the Slow n Sear loaded with lump, and a small piece of pecan over it. This is also the first time I’ve cooked on my yellow since touching it up with some high heat yellow paint. The touch ups are more pronounced when it’s hot but so far all is well.

Note for next time: put fatties on small rack so I don’t have to watch them fall apart when rotating. D’oh.

Those look great. What’s in them?

I’ve only made one and I wasn’t crazy about sausage wrapped in bacon. I thought maybe I’d try ground beef next time.

I used Jimmy Dean sausage. Sliced up Monterey Jack planks, my rub, and some of my sauce on the inside. Rolled it up and lightly seasoned the outside. The bacon can be overkill. I've done it without bacon and it's great that way too. You could do an 'outside in' one with hamburger. Wrap up your favorite burger toppings?

Yes, I need to get some good racks to rotate stuff like this.
