You don’t have to worry about the elements hurting your grill. They are basically indestructible. I keep the old grills covered but anything new or non collectible I have gets left out all year. Including the performer. My 10 year old one touch silver has sat outside all its life and has been used for everything from high heat pizza cooks and an occasional fire pit to stay warm when grilling on another kettle. If they rusted out in the winter time, I probably wouldn’t have caught weberitis.
