Old or new
« on: June 08, 2017, 03:39:47 PM »
I have this Heineken OTG DO code that was my first grill. I have to admit that I didn't't have a clue how to grill and was pretty rough on it.   I love it though and it's still in ok shape. I'm going to order a new grate from Weber and my question is this; Should I replace a worn handle and wheels because they're really faded and old looking or keep them original? Also, where is the best place to order replacement parts?

You can replace your handles with some new wooden ones if you choose And replace your Whitehall inserts with new ones as well.
@zavod44 and @uncle al can help you with those if you'd like.

You can order the handle and wheels directly from Weber. It is a personal preference if you want it to look brand new.  The legs on your Heineken are caddywhompus.   If you pull the legs out and rotate the bowl clockwise, the handles will then be in the correct positions.  One handle directly in front and one directly to the rear. You will find it much easier to roll around rather than dragging it.

A lot of kettles are out there with their legs put on wrong. I didn't know there was a term for it until I joined the Forum.  10 years isn't bad though.  I have acquired two vintage copper mist kettles that spent their entire 40+ life put together caddywhompus.  I just recently pulled out the legs and re-positioned them on both.  I could almost hear a sigh of relief.

Your kettle's in good company.  Here is a thread you might enjoy ryno5000:

Nice grill!!
Thank you. It's funny because when I bought my performer my wife asked if I was going to throw this one away.  I just looked at her like she was crazy...lol
