Hey All,

So a couple of weeks ago I picked up this old Summit gasser for free in hopes of refurbishing... turns out the cookbox was completely shot so instead I decided to have some fun and Frankenstein the cart into something useable.

These first generation Summit's are built like tanks so the frame is super solid. The stainless they used is also very high quality and substantially thicker that the stuff used today so this project had the perfect bones to become a prep station / serving cart. Another HUGE plus with using this particular model is that the two lower stainless steel pans can simply be swapped up to the top deck once the grill head is removed leaving you with a completely finished off stainless work surface.

First I stripped the frame down to the bare bones and gave it a new coat of gloss black paint:

After drying the cart is more or less ready to go but I decided to add one more finishing touch... The back side of the grill has a stainless steel panel which I swapped around to the front side of the cart. I then measured and drilled for the logo so she's now wearing a proper nameplate

Things are really coming together now... Down below is a spare SCG bowl section (Original was replaced due to blemish in porcelain) that will be used to hold my cooking grate. Not many carts can accommodate such a large bowl so it worked out perfectly. I can now just drop my grate into the cart and not have to worry about setting on the ground or elsewhere while I load charcoal or prep for some low n' slow in the kettle.

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Super easy to move around but solid and sturdy at the same time. The stainless also makes cleanup a breeze so it should fit the bill perfectly.

Thx for looking!

Wow, that's awesome!
I've cooked on one of those old gassers before, they were/are great cookers.
But man that a beautiful set up, what a prep table! Keeps all the mess outside and easy to clean, really nice!

Very nice! And now I have a reason to look for gas grills on eBay, letgo, etc.
