Smokin chicken @ 34F-advice?
« on: February 27, 2017, 06:44:47 PM »
Its supposed to be 34F(tropical where im from) up here in the Canadian winter so im thinking of pulling out my Master Touch kettle through the snow if its not frozen to the ground.

Im thinkin' about doing a brined whole chicken.

Any advice for smoking a chicken in the cold?

same process.  if it is windy, it might take a little longer, but not too much.  brining it will make the bird more forgiving if you overshoot the temp.
I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

You use more fuel in the cold weather obviously. Get your temp dialed in and be prepared to add coals a little sooner than normal.

-34 or 34. I don't consider 34 cold unless coupled with high wind.
