Appetizer suggestions
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:26:46 AM »
Greetings all,

We're heading to a friend's house Saturday for a party.   I typically make either wings or stuffed jalapeņos, but want to try something different since I've been in a rut lately.  Don't get me wrong, the wings and peppers are always a hit, just want to try something new on the kettle.

Thanks,
David

Moink balls, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, butt nuggets (basically pork burnt ends made from country style ribs or strips of pork butt) are a few that come to mind.

My suggestion: a round of Brie, topped with honey and thin slices of jalapeņos, wrapped in pie crust/filo dough and finished with an egg wash.  Bake on a pizza stone and serve with assorted crackers.

I like to serve grill toasted raviolis. I get em from sams club and serve em with pesto or marinera. They cook fast but you have to babysit em on the grill.

I find cooking these is a good exercise in heat management. You will find out real quick where the hot spots are and how to load and stack coals to balance that.

@Loonysup Stuffed Mushrooms! I use this but with baby bellas mushrooms. I made this Recipe about 6 years ago and everyone who has made this or had mine love them. You can make this also without the topping if desired. I also if I get a good price do shrimp...

... Potato skins.  Easy to do, and so good.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.   I'm going to go with Moink balls tomorrow but I've filed away the rest of the recipes for next time (or sooner)
