Just wondering if Weber was to release the Summit Charcoal Grill without the gas assist and price it for less than $1000.00 how many would buy it.

Seeing the results one can achieve with a sub $200 CL Performer I have no interest in literally any other grill north of $400.

I have to agree with Capt. I couldn't spend that kind of money on a grill only because, my personal situation, I have a young family. My money goes there. Now, 15 yrs ago, I'd drop a grand on a handgun in a minute, and did a few times. Not these days.

All my cookers have a gas assist.........a Harbor Freight Weed Torch w/Piezo igniter.

YES, I would definitely get one without the gas assist.

I don't know how many clueless Craigslisters selling Performers think the gas assist is for grilling - goes from gas to charcoal!
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

You can pull off all those same kickass cooks with a $30 smokey joe too though. :P

Are you saying people think the gas assist is the heat/fuel source? Please tell me I'm wrong
