Winter grilling
« on: January 31, 2016, 01:29:34 PM »
New Year's Eve I was out in freezing blowing wind trying to grill up some ribeyes and crab legs and discovered I wasn't having much fun so I decided to change the future of my winter cookouts with some cook-ins.
I found a new 36" vent hood on CL for not much money and installed it in my 3 season room and placed a grill under it. I had already been using the room in the winter for smoking cigars and an occasional cocktail while heating it with kerosene heaters so it only made sense to add the grill. My wife says it is redneckery at its finest, I think it's brilliant and I've cooked-in every weekend this month.
Actually my son got first honors of grilling with his RRR 18" I gave him for Christmas.

Man oh man, you must be living right. I live in The South and even I am fighting the temptation to envy, and I even went to church today. Man, you got it going on. Very Cool!

A fine example for anyone.  Nice to see your boy honing some good skills.  He won't have to worry about going hungry!

Ha! I doubt that. Hook your dad up with a Weber and he'll be just as cool. If you ever visit him at the lake send me a PM and we'll grill something up.

Oh he's the guy that hooked me up with a Weber in the first place! And I'll definitely look you up next time I'm around!

This is awesome!  I've always thought that when I buy a house I want to install a hood or hoods so I can grill inside or on a porch.  With Kettles there really isn't a fire hazard other than the chance of knocking over your chimney.  Any fires or flare ups the the kettle itself can easily be managed by putting the top on and closing down the vents.  I can't believe it took me a few days to look at this post.  I'm totally jealous!
