Christmas Sweet Taters
« on: December 26, 2015, 08:30:58 AM »
Coated in brown sugar, white sugar, and pumpkin pie spice with a few pats of butter on top. Little water in skillet, foil cover. On the grill for 30 minutes. Uncovered,  topped with chopped pecans and let it ride another 30 minutes. The family approved..it dissapeared fast!

That looks excellent Bert! These are a table favourite here at home (We call them "Candied Yams") but without the pecans and pumpkin spice... Might just have to amend the recipe as I can see those ingredients pushing it over the top!

Merry Christmas!

1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 4 tablespoons white sugar, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice.  Melt 1/2 stick of butter and coat the slices potatoes  (yams). Use 1/2 the spice mix to coat them ( i did this in a bowl with a lid, just tossed em good). Put the other 1/2 stick of butter on top. Just enough water to cover the bottom of the skillet and put on a foil cover. I went bout 30 minutes then uncovered and sprinkled the pecans and let it ride another 30 minutes.  Loved em. Thinkin a shot of Bourbon or rum instead of the water would be great!
