USA VS AUS World BBQ Championships
« on: November 20, 2015, 03:03:43 AM »
Myself and @evsky decided to enter this comp. We've made it to the finals and go head to head against 4 other teams next week with the winners getting a trip to the states next year. Yes it's basically grilling but it's one helluva prize. We will be on national tv and hopefully take out the championship.

Wow, that's super awesome! Congrats on making it to the finals!

Is this gonna make it on tv out here in the states? If so I'd love to check it out. Can't wait to see how this plays out, good luck!

Well what a day that was! Unfortunately we came runners up by 1 point :'( But we had a lot of fun and cooks went really smooth. Here's the link to the TV piece-
https://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/watch/30211132/australias-best-barbecuers/

The comp took place in the Novatel Hotel on Manly beach. We new it was going to be hot and it was 104f and a total fire ban across the state which meant no kettles were allowed to be used so we had to cook everything on a Genesis.

So with that curve ball thrown at us we had to rewire how we were going to cook our proteins for the day.
Everything turned out really well and couldn't of gone smoother
Here's our dishes for the day
Double Dip Chicken

Cedar Planked Pork Tenderloins with Spicy Mango Sauce

Triple M Rib Eye

The local paper also did a small article on our steak-

Here's some more pics from the day-

We met some great people and made a few contacts in the industry. We represented WKC as best we could. Maybe next time we wil come home with the prize.
