For thumbscrews I used wd40, let it sit and they wouldn't budge. Went down the next morning and after sitting all night I was able to get them off with pliers.

TheDude

Picked up a can of PB Blaster. Will post results.

So far, no go. Gonna let it sit over night. Might be on the market for a bale wire, if anyone has one laying around.

PB Blaster is good stuff. I would spray it again before bed trying to get it into the threads, let it sit till tomorrow.

If it is still tight, don't keep turning or you may twist it in half breaking it.

Do what Hogsy said,,,,light some charcoal, put the lid on and let it heat up real hot inside. Then put the wrench or socket on it and try easy. If it wont budge, let it heat more, can spray more PB Blaster on it, but don't spray on the charcoal. Let her heat up good and try again.

Heat normally works for a rusted bolt.

PB should do it, you can keep applying it, the heat should help too, be patient, as these other guys said even the most stubborn bolts usually come loose.  Even if it takes a few days it's still faster than ordering a new one and having it delivered......

Tried heat all day. Thing isn't budging. Tabs on the bail outside the bowl are about vertical. At this point, I think it's cross threaded more so than rusted.

Heyjude

Those nuts usually come off without too much effort. I agree on the cross threading.
Take some duct tape to the outside of the bale and use a good pair of vise grips to hold it while using a socket to remove the nut.
The tame should protect the bale form getting too scuffed up.
A little heat from a torch isn't going to hurt the porcelain.. Just don;t go overboard with it.

I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

Thing still won't budge, but @Camp to a generous rescue.

@TheDude  I agree w/ Gummy Bear, I'd use my Dremel Tool w/ my smallest cut-off bit.  The cut is carefully along the axis of the bail  ...  the trick is to cut a slot in the nut that goes down to the level of the threads.  A flat blade screw driver should then be able to loosen (or even break) the nut.  Easy off at that point.              SJ
