I live in Michigan.  Personally I have not had squirrel and probably never will.  I did have a neighbor years ago tell me that the city squirrels (Grand Rapids, MI) did not taste as good as the squirrels up in northern Michigan.

+1 for country squirrels.  City squirrels are basically tree rats.  Dutch oven and some sauce maybe best way to grill.

I've had fried squirrel with milk gravy, and it was decent.

On a side note, a friend of mine once noted that if squirrels didn't have fluffy tails, they'd have been eradicated by now. A squirrel with a non-fluffy tail = an oversized rat.
