Have you named one of your Kettles ?
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:37:16 AM »
Looks like a few guys have  " pet names " for the kettles they own. I'm guessing most of these names have stories behind them . If you'd like to share your kettle name or names  and story behind the name I'm sure it would be entertaining,  it's also  an excuse to post gratuitous kettle pics :)

I'll lead it off with a few to get things started

Pac Man -

This  grill got its name from its  CL photo when I bought it . It was in a storage unit auction and the winning bidder took a photo of the legless grill lying in a trash heap with the lid slightly off the bowl and the two chips front and center facing the camera . It was PAC MAN mouth open and ready to chomp,  a little ball of yellow just sitting there . PAC MAN has been my traveling grill for the last two years , he's been all over the NW camping with me and it's been a favorite of mine since I got it.

A few others

I have a Plum - Maroon , I call it " Ron Burgundy "
I have a Red HC 22" I call it the " Big Tomato "
I have a WSM I call " ole 250 " because it stays at 250 degrees with all the daisies open regardless of the weather.

  " Esto Perpertua "

Only problem is when you name them, it makes it really hard to ever sell them.  They have now become family.

My very first rescue was a beauty redhead.  I was calling her Miss Scarlett for awhile … I played a lot of Clue back in the day.

Then my next was a blue …. So he became My Boy Blue.

Since then, I haven't really named any.  Once in awhile I refer to them by a name, or two.  Kinda like having a dog with multiple names.  ??? :P ;D ;) ;)

My red SS Performer has been a crazy ride. I knew a redhead that was also a bit of a crazy ride. Best if we leave it at that.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Around here there's Bob...

He gets his own stories....along with Mae Belle......

Here they are along with some friends....front to back, Mae Belle, Tommy (the wobbly legged drunk), Bob, LuLu, Lil' & Sis (not being used, to the left)

Lil Red Monster........

Orange.....Clockwork, Mandarin, etc.

There's numerous others......some don't have a name yet.....they have to cook in rotation for awhile & play nice with the other kettles before they 'earn' a name...... 8)

@1buckie …. Bob is my hero.  8) ;) ;)

I have been wanting to name my "A" code blackie something.
I just decided that it's going to be Phil … In honour of my grandfather.
Or …. Is it Fill? As is in fill-my-belly …. Either way, it will sound the same.   :o ::) ::) ;) ;)

Don't tell my wife. She already is talking about having me committed.

This is Stumpy:

Stumpy is named for Walter Brennan's character in the movie "Rio Bravo" starring John Wayne and Dean Martin. Stumpy is short, old, and has a bum leg.

Gotta go, she's looking this way...

I don't name them. I don't want to get too attached.
