What is this?
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:24:56 PM »
This came my way last weekend.

I presume it is medium old.  It seems to be from before the date code stamp.  '70's?

Wood Handle lid, Metal handle bowl.

It's not in grate shape (bowl).

I will use it until I get a new to me SS performer to replace it.

I was excited to find it.

I do not have Weberitis.

I do not have Weberitis.

I do not have Weberitis.

Thanks, Pete

Sorry about the low quality of pics.

Pretty rough on the bottom, but fuzzier rabbits have been pulled out of more rumpled hats..... 8)

If you get a full on good top vent shot, the date can be zeroed in.....might be early - mid 70's............

High heat JB Weld has been used to fix punched thru holes before, but I can't remember exactly who did it?

nice score. You can probably get a decent cooker out of it by replacing the bottom vents. With all those leaks it may be hard to get super fine temp control but I bet you'd be able to smoke with it.

Fortunately, this isn't the case.  She has lived her life on a salt water beach.

Here's a vent shot.

Do "PAT. 3538906" and "ARLINGTON HEIGHTS" offer a clue?

Seems like the PAT. and metal bowl handles makes it 1970 - 1981.

Anything else to look at to narrow it down?

Color?  Wheels? etc.?

Thanks, Pete

1978

Is this a guess, or are you able to narrow it down that precisely?

1978 works for me.

1978 is when they first went with raised letter vent. 76/77 is etched Weber.

Thanks, Pete
