Previous: What to do for a Few....Part 2 #4

Here's another one from a few months back, me & the dawgs.....

Okay.....the wife's still out if town
( on holiday on the continent, I think it's called )

The little one's birthday has arrived, so the pups get ribs on their b-day....

I think she was a fish in a past life & as it's still well over 100°..... let 'em play in the water ~~>

The lawn is toast, can't get sod to take hold, but some plants may make it....
Maybe I can just brick it over & get more Webers.... :D

While this is going on I'll get the obligitory 'Turds rollin'

This was some really uncooperative bacon, more about that in a minute...
Also pondering what to do with all these Satsuma plums from mom's yard... they're way ripe...

1st, let's get those 'Turds rollin' ~~>

Glad the "MacGyver Upper Deck Smoking Rack" has a flip up feature...

I wanted to try that wine soak oak again, they're little tiny blocks, abt 3/8" square...dry as all get out....
Same deal, all smoldery at 1st, then it levels out...
The taste ends up being really good,
but any other wood I've burned that looked that smoke would taste terrible...

For people new to smoking, example of what it should NOT look like ~~~>

OK ,while I'm NOT WORRYING about that....

Mush up some plums & add a tad bit of cinnamon & some foo-foo kiwi vinegar....
Really nice lady at the music festival gave me a bottle of it a few years back
& I'm just now getting to use it, really good stuff...

Didn't use the maple syrup from MacEggs, as the plums are sweet enough...thought abt it tho... :D
Let that stew on the stove while gettin' this ready ~~>

Pastrami & swiss "deli" fattie....
There's that uncooperative bacon again....
I'm takin' no chances with this stuff so whipped out
the pup-sized skewers again.......

Came out fine...

'Turds & chix...

Ribs w/ Satsuma plum glaze...

Bend test...

There are no plated pics, as it's just an ongoing snack-fest around here ~~> :D

Thanks, Ron !!!

Duke, the plum stuff was pretty good, sweet, for sure, but also real rich & a bit tart.....
That vinegar was kiwi & some other stuff, interesting......

My preferred rib is full spare, savory rub, fairly heavy smoke & no sauce....but every now & then, something different !!!
