Here's a recipe from Weber for cooking strip steaks using lump Charcoal. Weber says to put aside your grill grate as you won't need it, and they have you put the meat right on the coals.

Some call it Cowboy grilling or Cave-man cooking.
I'm sure someone has done this, so I want to ask, how did it go, is it worth trying?

It has been a while since I have done it that way, adds a unique flavor/texture, never tried it with strip steak
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

There's a member here @inkaddictedchef1 that did some ribeyes that way.  It's a pretty fun cook to watch......

Same here.
I have never made chili the way I used to after watching his chili video.
My chili typically began with a starter kit of some sort. Now the only way for me is with fresh fire roasted veggies.

The last year saw the passing of my father, am intense cancer battle for my spouse and a major career change... I think often of filming more cooks it just has not been in the cards of late. That's not to say the therapy won't return, as it may, it's just all up to the universe.  Appreciate you guys

Man, you've had a lot on your plate, totally understand and so sorry for the loss of your dad.  Hoping all goes well for your spouse and new career.  I still like to watch your videos even though I've seen them a few times!

Sorry for your loss, and I hope things brighten up for you. I watched the video you did on coal cooked ribeyes, and I see what others are talking about. Great video and not to sound cheesy, but you do have a genuine passion for not only grilling but presenting and teaching as well. Looking forward to see what you do once you feel up to it. Really good work.
