Good day all
Hickory smoked a meatloaf last night. 3 hours at 275 . Made some gravy but no need for it came out juicy with a perfect crust!

I occasionally make meatloaf on my kettle, too. I use my own unique recipe. I live in an area with some Amish folks who have opened their own store. They have a deli, and a variety of foods, spices, and homemade breads. They have a spice / sauce / salsa rack in the store. And on that rack I have found sweet red bell pepper relish and sweet yellow onion relish. I add some of each to my meatloaf. I also replace the breadcrumbs with a pile of crushed crouton crumbs. I gotta be honest, it's one of my favorite things to cook on the kettle. I don't use a loaf pan, I make them into burgers. Indirect for about 15 minutes to cook the egg, then a reverse sear to finish. Makes an incredible meatloaf burger! Meatloaf has been one of my favorite things to grill for a good while now!

Sounds like a really good recipe!  I threw a meatloaf together on Saturday that turned out pretty tasty... 1lb ground chuck, 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs, two eggs, some leftover diced onions we had, SPG and a big squirt of Bachan's Japanese BBQ sauce.  I also basted it with the sauce while cooking.  Such an easy and satisfying cook.

I use 1 cup whole oats and soak it with 1 cup of whole milk and let it sit till its fully absorbed.

It then gets folded into the meat mixture.

Haven't done one of those in a long time.  I took a blend of 2 lbs beef, 1 lb pork, 1 lb veal.  Mix in the bread crumbs, eggs, SPG, diced onions.  That makes 2 really good sized loaves.

Thanks for the reminder !
