Bagged a decent (my third) GA for a good price

My plan is to paint this one gloss red using 500c Raptor enamel

I've used normal hammerite enamel rated at 150c on touching up grills and painting handles etc with no signs of melting so I'm hoping this should works ok, if not, Ittl make a nice display piece have some nice wooden handles to throw on also. Watch this space!

Not hanging around this stuff dries quick, that's only 1 coat so far! Keyed the surface with 240 then 320 just to take the sheen off

That's gonna look nice!

Hopefully! Couple of coats on the lid, will let it bake in my sauna of a loft for a day or so and if needed give it another rub down and coat after

Wow, that's shining just like porcelain!  I'll be interested to see how it holds up to the heat - if you can bring yourself to use it lol....

I probably won't it's a nice finish to be fair and easy to work with! I'm going to make a test piece and play around with temps incase I do use it

Pretty stoked how this turned out. Going to leave it to bake in the sun for a couple of days, will see if I can bring myself to cook on it!

Next project please

So far I've held the heat gun on it for 5 mins from the inside out, surface doesn't get tacky so fingers crossed. Next thing I'll light a small charcoal basket inside it and that'll help cure it

It turned out beautiful!

Looks amazing!  Interested to see how the paint holds up under the top and side vents.  I'd probably put that on a shelf in the house and just look at it every day.  ;)

bamakettles thanks guys. I'm real happy with it. Yeah, I think this one may sit on display in the loft with the tinkering bench.

Well I lit a fire, it got to around 300c at one point, and it went ever so slightly tacky but apparently that's part of the curing process, the ceramic needs to bake. now it's back down to 200c in there and hard as nails. It's been hot for around an hour. So I think the paints good once cured. I'll let it cool and then go again and see if it gets tacky again. I put a 1mm stainless spacer on the legs between the lower vents and the paint, so they're not making direct contact. didn't want to risk scratching it lol.
