Title: Sunday sausage and peppers.
Post by: Craig on January 19, 2014, 06:02:07 PM
It was a nice day today (59 degrees outside) so there was no way I was not going to cook outside. I had a craving for sausage and peppers. I started with melted butter and some fennel seed in the paella pan, added red, green, and orange peppers with onion, let them cook down for 10 minutes, then did the sausages (sweet and mild this time) after a couple minutes direct, I put them into the pan and added a cup and a half of spaghetti sauce. I cheated and used Ragu. I let the sausages, sauce and peppers and onions simmer for another 10 minutes. Then it was chow time.

Thanks guys! Tim I used the small chimney and filled it to the rim. That amount fills one charcoal fuel basket perfectly. I love doing these and the brat version which instead of sausage and red sauce is brats cooked in a beer and mustard gravy. Same onions. It's always a hit around our house.

That looks really good Craig.  I'm gonna give that one a try if it ever warms up here.  I certainly don't see 59 degrees anywhere in the near future.  I've already scrapped the whole upcoming month of February for Chicago.

Here's an arm...Hey, here's a leg. Here's a wing. Hey, what do you like, the leg or the wing, Henry? Or do you still go for the old hearts and lungs?

FINALLY got around to trying this today.  Been thinking about it for months.  Thanks for the inspiration Craig!  It was really good.  Too busy eating to get any plated shots on the bun.   ;D

Newman's own Roasted Garlic sauce.

I have a sensitive stomach when it comes to marinaras and I have found Newman's Own works for me.  Big fan of it.  The garlic tasted great with the italian sausages.  ;D
