I don't have a Woodard/Weber cart, (yet) but I found a contemporary set at a consignment shop the other day and picked it up cheap. My wife has a few other pieces she uses for plant stands and such - we're having them powder-coated as we speak. The company was founded in 1866 as Woodard Brothers. (Reminiscent of Weber Bros?) Still going strong today. I like that. A batch of simple thighs on the SSP was a good way to welcome it to a new home. Woodard and Weber: together again. Let's see yours!

Very cool!!
I can't believe your timing on this thread Marty. Two days ago, I just took delivery of this vintage Woodard Sulptura set of 4 chairs and table.
HISTORICAL FACTS:
The Sculputa line was introduced by Woodard in 1956. They were the first company to construct a sculpted chair without using expensive molds. In 1994, the Sculptura chair was added to the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum's permanent collection. Somewhere along the line, Woodard discontinued the Sculptura line. In 2015, in response to the resurgence of mid-century modern furnishings, Woodard revived the iconic Sculptura collection and still produces the chairs today. Cost of a new Sculptura chair today is $750 (per chair).

This particular set came from the Redstone Castle in Colorado. It was built in 1897 and has hosted a Rockefeller and a Roosevelt. According to the Redstone Castle caretaker, this set is somewhere between 40 to 50 years old.

Got the 1950's Woodard Sculptura set back from powder coating. Came out really nice. Prior to being painted, I had a welder add 3" of height extensions to the chairs and table legs. The chairs were way to low for my comfort. Perfect height now.

@Cellar2ful, can you elaborate on the media blasting part of your project? I'm currently in the process of sand blasting my Chariot.... and it is not going well.
I picked up a Woodard patio set (three piece 'couch' and spring rocker) with the 'Acorn' pattern at an estate sale two or three years ago, and then later acquired the Chariot from a WKC member in St. Louis. I now want to get them all powder coated but the place that does the powder coating is not set up to prep the materials to be painted. You have to bring them in all cleaned up and ready for the powder coating process - which, I was told, should be down to clean metal. I checked around and no one in my area does sand blasting for this sort of thing. They all do much bigger projects like cabins and truck chassis, etc. I got a quote from the only one that would even provide one that said they'd need minimum $1000 just to get started! So I decided to do it myself. I've so far purchased one DeWalt 30 gal. belt drive compressor, four bags of special sand, one sand blast hose/nozzle kit, one set of protective goggles and a silly head hood that looks like a bee keepers outfit. Oh, and six 8' 2x4s and two large tarps to construct a blasting 'room' in hopes of capturing some of all that sand for re-use. Three days into it now and all I've got is about one half of the way through one of the pieces! At the rate its going it will take hundreds of hours to get down to clean metal on all five pieces.
So I'm curious as to how your pieces looked before bringing them in for powder coating (that is, after they were prepped). Your Sculptura set looks especially challenging with all that mesh grating. How did you get the metal clean inside all that mesh?!
I wonder if there is another way to get the paint off? A lye bath? Does anybody have input they can share regarding similar experiences?
@Dale Benson - The place I used thankfully did both the sand blasting and powder coating. It is a family owned business that has been in operation since 1968. I never saw them stripped of all the paint as they do both the sand blasting and powder coating on site at the one facility. I did see their sand blasting and powder coating booths in use when I dropped off my Chariot. They are known for doing a lot of custom metal powder coating for hot rod builders in our area. The cost for sand blasting and powder coating was $150 total. The next closest bid I had was $300 to both sand blast and powder coat it. If you have any car builders in your area, you might try reaching out to them for sources of sand blasting and powder coating.

Thanks much for the feedback. I'll check around with auto body places tomorrow.
Beautiful job on the Chariot restore.
Just got home from an Estate Sale that was four blocks away from my house. This Lounge Chaise looked like a Woodard product. It's nicely crafted but has been repainted in silver paint. Came with this set of custom cushions that I think were recently made. The price was affordable so I brought it home. It may or may not be made by Woodard but just looks like those Woodard wheels.

I couldn't leave well alone. I saw what looked to be a small rectangular name badge that had been painted over. A little paint thinner on a rag and a few seconds later... there it is. It's a Lee L. Woodard Sons. The metal name plates were replaced by decals in the late 1970's.

That is a nice collection Jim. We have the Woodard Chantilly rose collection from the mid late 60's matches our Seville. Very well made and extremely expensive. The Woodard 18 cart is from the Orleans collection and that too is pricey but nice
Did you see our 1950's Woodard Sulptura set I posted earlier on in this thread Joe? Look at Reply #4 and #18 in this thread. Woodard started manufacturing this line again. They want $750 per chair. When I found out the price of new, I felt much better spending the money to restore the vintage ones. I am on the hunt for 2 Orleans chairs to match my Chariot.
Jim, I remember that back when you posted and just revisited. I am always on the lookout for the Chantilly Rose pieces. They are just beautiful
I have been looking for one of these Woodard chaise lounge chairs for a couple of years. One popped up on CL this past weekend and it was 10 minutes from my house. Even better, the asking price was only $10 and it matches my Chariot Seville. Same acorns and oak leaves (Orleans) pattern.

Been looking for a Woodard tea cart for a while. Scored this one of Facebook Marketplace about an hour drive from my house. I believe this one is a Chantilly pattern from the 60's. Just need to have a piece of tempered glass cut for the top. I'm really liking the patina on this so probably won't restore it.
@JEBIV - I won't be having to make the drive to Southern California now, although I would still like one in the Orleans pattern.

Ok so I got this patio set for free years ago. Some people I knew were getting a new, bigger set and gave me this one. It was white and showed some rust. So...the wife sanded and painted it red and picked up some cushions. I never gave it a thought until running across some info on WKC about Woodard furniture. Anyone know if this could be a Woodard set? I haven't found this particular set online but it does have some similar styling to other Woodard sets I've seen. Any info would be appreciated.
Love the color and cushions, may be a Woodard design. Sometimes on the underside of the chair in the rear could be a Woodard placard

@nvandyke - You can email your photo to the Woodard Company and ask if it indeed is a Woodard product. I have referred several WKC members to contact Woodard regarding identifying wrought iron pieces. If it is a Woodard, they will identify the model name and years it was produced.

Agreed nvandyke. It really is a nice looking set.
Picked up another nice Woodard Tea Cart last weekend. Spotted it in a thumbnail photo of a CL add for a local estate sale. Congrats,
@webersalzburg! Your cart looks to be in great shape! There is not too much historical information available about the 18" Woodard carts, that we're aware of. They are not mentioned in any of the Weber catalogs, for sure.
@RottiGuy... congrats to you, as well! Does yours have a kettle, or no? The nice thing about the 18 cart is that any 18 bowl will fit. Would love to see a nice Wedgewood sitting in that cart ;) ;D
Already searching lol. Found this set for 125. Needs glass tabletop.
It says woodward not Woodard on the ad.
We have to start searching for material and brochures
For sure Weber made advertising and stuff, because this assortment is a special one, probably the sales rep of that time hat special sales material for there dealers.

No problem at all as I know they are not to everyone's taste so glad you like it.

Any updates on these cart restorations? It's been a while since we visited this. There may also be some new acquisitions to share - being about 10 months since the last post on this thread.
Unsure if this is a Woodard tea cart/trolley, but looks awesome
The style looks incredibly close to the Seville carts.
This was found locally in Australia in bad shape.
Previous owner did an awesome job of restoring.

I have a smaller cart that looks identical to this. Found locally in Australia.

Yeah, that looks like a Woodard bar cart/ tea cart.
That's a fantastic score.
I'd love to find something like that to go with the Seville.

Bringing this back up to the top..... Does anyone find these anymore? I've not seen any surface in quite some time. Would also be fun to see some of these in use.

I see Woodard furniture at estate sales occasionally but no Weber Woodard carts.

The Woodard cart I restored and painted a Cabernet color. The table and chairs are from the 1978 Arnold Palmer Collection of Woodard outdoor furniture.
