I have a total of three. Two are older models, not for cooking. One normal looking one for cooking at church picnics and block parties. Maybe twice a year. I will measure and get it posted. That is if somebody else doesn't get to it first.
I do....here is a picture of old Granddad and Mothership 2
(http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z276/zavod112/DSCN0011.jpg)
It is 30 1/2" from the cooking grate to the ground. I do not have one, but my brother has 2 (I'm trying like hell to talk him out of one!) and he measured it for me. Hope this helps.

I have one. I wouldn't have bought it but I found it for $125 BIN on Ebay 45 min from my parents house. I've only used it 2x and prob wont bust it out until I go back home for a summer party. It's way overkill for normal sized groups but alot of fun to use.
Damn pbe - THAT is a great score. Did you ask why they were selling? (so cheap)
Only after I bought it! It was one of those cases where he used it a few times a year, but took up too much space in the yard.
Wow, $125 for a ranch, I would have bought another one at that price! That was a once in a life time grap on that.
Revive old thread ...I Just got one ! Paid full price off Amazon .... I really like this Cooker !
I have one...

I've got "Roswell". And to answer your question, clearly these mothership style ranches sit low to the ground. You can see the height relative to the limey 22 in the background.

I just picked one up off CL last Saturday. Paid $450 but it is in very good shape. Planning to post some pics later. Does anybody know were the date code is on the newer style ranch? It has a black top vent but I could not see a stamp?

You will find the date code on the lower vents.

I have one.
I'll bump my own thread here. I own one as well, ...now. I didn't then, but now I do. Looking at the date when I started this discussion almost two years ago, I bought mine shortly after I started this thread. I only own two charcoal Weber grills and one of them is a Ranch Kettle. Mine is heavily, heavily modified. I have cut and sawed and chopped and added and subtracted every part of this grill.
To everyone out there who owns one of these: Put the Weber light on the handle like I did. It is the absolute best modification you can make. Here is the link to that discussion...

Missed this thread originally. Prof's stacker looks like a mash tun for brewing beer. And that keg that got turned into a stick burning wok station is insane.
Got one down here in FL as well. One of my go-to grills.

I'm guessing some of you probably use a spare for storing & displaying your Smokey Joe or Go Anywhere collections.
Whenever I see a ranch, I wonder if you fabricated a corn n' tater ring for it, how many would it hold?
But, maybe that's just because I'm from the Midwest and Irish.
Picked one up a couple years ago for $400 only an 1-1/2 hours from home. Guy used it twice to cook corn. It still had the stainless finish on the grates! I use it way more than I originally thought I would. I first bought thinking, what the hell, for the price... But now I use it almost anytime we're entertaining, and I do about half of my smokes on it too. Works great.
