Title: Arizona meet and greet
Post by: 1911Ron on May 28, 2015, 09:17:40 PM
Calling all Arizonians it is getting warmer maybe to warm to do a real get together, so what about doing Rudy's BBQ http://www.rudysbbq.com/page/location/name/bbq-chandler/phoenix on a Sat night? Date is open so throw out a good night to do this.  The intent is to gather together all interested partys get to know everyone a little better and get a sense on what everyone is looking for.

@Winz  @AZ Monsoon  @AZRaptor  @AZ_MIKEY  @jcnaz @THUNDERDOME @G$ If I missed (and I'm sure I did) anyone let me know and are more than happy to have you.

If Rudy's doesn't work any and all suggestions are welcome!

This is a great idea, Ron. I will start kicking my calendar around...

Great idea, I am in!  The only bad days for me are June 19 through the 22nd.  Other than that, I can make it.

Rudy's is a good location, kind of in the center of all of us.  Should we decide that we want to cook instead, I can offer to host and we can put the Ranch (and a few other kettles) to work.  Only caveat is that I live in Gold Canyon which is a long drive for most of you.

Sounds good! I think Rudys is a nice, cool meet up spot. First week in June is no good for me, but other than that I think i could swing it

I'm game. I've never been to Rudy's so that sounds great. We're doing some vacations this summer with the kids, but other than that should be around. Thanks!

So would the 13th or the 27th work? I know we have kicked around an actual Kettle cooking get together, maybe in the fall/cooler weather?

Does the 13th work for anyone else?  It will work for me, but any Sat will work for me so....

Any idea on a time?  I am working the nightshift so i am trying to stay with those hours, i get up around 1:30 pm so anytime after say 4:00 pm would work.

I am flying back into town from vacation in Florida with the family on the 13th, but don't move anything on my account. If the 13th works for everyone I'll just catch the Fall/Winter kettle cook get together.

With the rising heat in the "Valley of the Sun" we decided to have an initial meet up at Rudy's to eat some good BBQ and drink some cold beers  We had representation from the Far West of the valley (1911 Ron) the far East of the valley (Me, JC, and Mikey) and from the Scottsdale area (AZMonsoon).  It was a great chance to put some names to faces (and text numbers).

Clockwise from the bottom right -
Barry @AZ Monsoon
JC @jcnaz
Ron @1911Ron
Ron's wife Kim
Yours Truly
Mikey @AZ_MIKEY
Mikey's GF Kelly (she has cooked whole turkey on a 26er)

Thanks to everyone for turning out.  It was great to meet everyone.  We will get a cook together once the heat passes.

Ron - for the record, you and I live 72.8 miles apart.

I wish I could have  been there. I was stupid enough to agree to play in a 1:30 shotgun, it was brutal.

I was at AZ Grand which is only a few miles north...sorry I missed it. Next time!
