Ed and I will be attending and competing in the "Pig And Peaches" in Kennesaw, GA. The dates are August 21st and 22nd. We are looking for other locals to join us. I believe Uncle JJ is in. Ed

Getting close folks. Gonna be a fun time. The Weber Grill Academy will be on hand. We will also be competing.
We plan on assembling one of the most comprehensive lineups of vintage Weber kettles seen to date including:
Multiple Westerner(s), Custom B-B-Q kettle, Custom (meat grill), Multiple Weber Bros Metal Works, The Fireplace grill, 18.5" and 14" Galley Ques, Seville, Wood Dale Imperial, Wood Dale Plainsman, offset handle smokey joes, Ranger, The Traveler, Seqouia, and many more. The NOS 1974 Aristocrat may even make an appearance. :D

I think the box from OZ will be here in time. I will open it at the meet up on Saturday if it arrives. Harris, UncleJJ and I will have pulled pork sandwiches for anyone from WKC, smoked for 10-12 hours on a WSM of course. Bring your family to the event, there's a ton of stuff going on. I plan on being there all day Friday and Saturday..even though it's my wife's birthday on Friday!
UncleJJ will be cooking deserts and I will try to prepare a manitory swordfish entry. I'm thinking of either a smoked fish dip with grilled tortilla chips or fish and grits turn in. I think all the other teams will be preparing a swordfish steak so I want something different.
And if the moon is right the Great Pumpkin will make an appearance!

@harris92 @reillyranch First off – thanks for all of the hospitality you showed to this new guy! You guys have a really amazing display. This was my first in person look at some real vintage kettles. I'm just blown away at how great that they hold up over time. Some of the kettles you have are nearing 70 years old but could pass for just a being a few years old. Weber really nailed it with the kettle design and materials way back. I certainly have an even greater appreciation now for the vintage kettles and everyone the restores, collects and preserves them.
For anyone going out Saturday it is well worth the trip. The guys are setup way in the back of the venue. It is not so intuitive how to get to the booth but just do what I did and keep walking around all of the canopies in the back until you find them.
UncleJJ I hope you will share your desert recipe – it was awesome. Who knew you could use a grill to turn a donut into something even more magical.

......and, one all-important question: what cookers did the prize winners get cooked on?
The guys did a great job. If I remember correctly UncleJJ cooked his prize winning chicken thighs on a current model Weber 26". And I might add this was UncleJJ very first bbq contest. Way to hit it out of the park! The ribs were done on a 22" WSM by Craven Q - a good friend of mine. The entries done on the vintage Weber's didn't place. Weber's win the day!

For anyone going out Saturday it is well worth the trip. The guys are setup way in the back of the venue. It is not so intuitive how to get to the booth but just do what I did and keep walking around all of the canopies in the back until you find them.
UncleJJ I hope you will share your desert recipe – it was awesome. Who knew you could use a grill to turn a donut into something even more magical.
@Uncle Al - great to meet you and your cool wife! Glad you two enjoy cooking together. I'll post the recipe on a different thread! The dessert didn't score well - 13th out of 25-30, I think!

Our little Webers beat out some very fine (and expensive) smokers! The weekend really couldn't have been better - except for the fact that I had to miss awards to go to a funeral!
And the grills, oh the grills!
@harris92 is so stingy though - he didn't give me a single vintage kettle! Come on, man!
Man, I really hate that I missed it this past weekend. If they do it again next year I'll have to plan a trip. Congrats on the GC!

They had us tucked away in an alley behind one of the baseball fields. By 5pm, most of the kettles were packed up though!

Thanks gummie, it was fun bringing out all those vintage Weber grills, although most of the public didn't really get it. They thought we were having some sort of yard sale. Maybe that's why Harris had to stay up all night! It was good meeting up with fellow WKCers and watching them do their stuff. There is talk that we will be doing it again real soon, sometime around Thanksgiving. More on that later.

& the BBQ sampler platter I had from the "Owl's Nest" (local restaurant/booth)
