Another fifties style cook.

Kettle shot, the crust on the one side was awesome. I may need to turn it mid cook next time to get some on the other side.

Resting while I finish the other sides.

Served up with garlic mashed potato's and brown gravy. Check out that smoke ring.

This was seriously delicious and a must do if you haven't. I will definitely be doing this one again soon, but it will be a little more of a bbq style.

I was just thinking, I bet if I wiped the whole thing in mustard I would get lot's more bark. Another idea is to make a pepper stout loaf. :o

Craig

That looks amazing, Shaun! I've been wanting to do a meet loaf on the kettle. I'm a meatloaf junkie.

It looks great! I love meatloaf done right on the grate. Unfortunately nobody else in the family likes meatloaf as much as I do so I don't get to make it very often. I think doing it on the grill beats any other type of meatloaf I have ever had. Good work.
If it needs to be Heated to be Eated, I can do it on my Weber!

Well said. I just had leftovers and they were better the second day. I think we will be dusting them off tomorrow. This was a huge hit for my family.

Looks great! It will be sub zero again tomorrow. Will take longer as they are predicting winds too..
Shaun, what do you use in the guts of your loaf? Everybody does it differently.

You want hyper-bark, pack the entire top & sides with mild salsa.......tricky to do, but it works if you're careful...... 8)

That thing looks huge! 5-6 lbs? Nicely done.  :D
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Craig

That pan that the carrots are in looks like it's right out of a 50s Weber magazine ad! Love it!

Duke

Thanks again,

GLR, I just used a regular seasoning package and followed the directions since this was my first real meatloaf.

Buckie, the salsa sounds like it would work, and I might try it when I try out a few mini loafs one day. I want to try a few different styles at the same time.

Thanks Mac, it was actually 3 1/2 but look huge on a 22.

Craig, I will try and pick a pan up for you the next time I'm at the store where I bought mine.

.....when the big bowl comes out.......

Wife's got a wild hair about hickory smoked personal turkey meatloafs....

I'll see if I can do some w/ salsa bark.......

Love meatloaf.  Yours looks great.  Even better I'm sure with the smoke on it.
