I got to thinking (that's most likely a problem right there !!)
Could an ABT be done vegetarian?? A Vegan 'TURD ??

Well, the answer is yes....

1st burn off all that nasty bacon grease that's been piling up for months...

Then pick up a variety of meatless items

Note that they're merely "Bacon Style Strips"
Then roll 'em on up

& load the smoking unit....

I put them on the top rack figuring that anything that dripped on the choink balls &
chicken from h3ll on the lower rack would be safe
('cause it's not actual meat protein type stuff, 'ya know...)
& all items plated...

They were a little on the dry & bland side...OK a lot on the dry & bland side,
but I think I could get them to work w/ a little practice......
Just in case I was asked to go meatless....

LOL.....just kidding.  You get an A for effort

On another note, I see you have an 'Ove Glove sitting there.  How do you like it for grill duty?  My Mom bought me one for christmas, but I haven't used it outside of the kitchen yet.

They look good! Looks like a cool thing to have when you have vegetarians/vegans in the mix.  I have a number of friends who are and it's always an issue.  Some of them bring stuff for the grill, ie portobellos, veggie burgers, etc.  Knowing this club, it's probably not an issue for any of us to have a veggie-only kettle at the ready.  Next veggie thing I'm going to do are brussel sprouts and shiitaki mushrooms but I need a grill basket.
Agreed, A for effort!

Nice, Ken!  You've been reading my signature again, eh?!??  :o ;D ;)

A side note: I've had a vegetarian friend eat drip-pan beans (under ribs).
Then we told her .... she still had seconds.  ??? :)
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I cook vegetarian stuff for vegetarian friends, and fish for pescetarians, etc..  But there is nothing more satisfying than a vegetarian breaking down, taking a bite of some pork shoulder or beef roast or etc. and then watching their eyes roll back up into their heads with utter pleasure of it all.  I respect their dedication, but I take a ton of joy in their departures from the discipline.

^I have a friend who is/was (not sure anymore) vegetarian.  On a night at the bar, I watched her basically inhale an entire plate of wings.  HILARIOUS!

Bacon.....bacon is the "Gateway Meat"

.....yeah I have two Ove Gloves & a Pit Mitt (longer sleeve same thing) that are in the tool box
I use them a lot, but quite often don't actually put them on....just wrap them around the hot item to make a quick move.....

Also save my old ones that fall apart after a long while to cut up & use as heat buffers for handles, etc.

A great way to fake out vegetarians is to smoke some of the vegetables-- eggplant works really well for this.  They will swear you cooked with bacon.  Even more effective if you can find a way to use some molasses in the recipe as well.

We had some vegetarians over for a meeting (amongst a bunch of metatarians) I made a nice lentil stew for them and pulled pork for everyone else. They really enjoyed the pulled pork mixed in with the lentils. ;D

One of my favorite vegetarian foods is Portobello mushrooms. Of course I enjoy a lot of veggies grilled on the kettle. (But that is not why I am here to post. ;) )

Edit: Please tell us you didn't really burn out the grease like that!  :o
kettles, smokers...

Yes, it's true......but that's not grease.....mostly.....
198 proof (99% alcohol)  isoprohanol.......burns off REALLY quick....what you're seeing happened in a VERY short period of time & was one of only two high heat cooks / burns ever done in " BOB"
