Mom's Birthday dinner.
« on: October 12, 2013, 08:43:21 PM »
Had my mother and her husband over for dinner the other night. I kept it basic but tasty. Kansas City strips and some basement potatoes.  Love the sear grate. I picked up some Weber potato nails that day. Love those too.

Played with some garlic bread..

Thanks for looking.

Very nice, Craig!  Happy birthday to your Mom!  :D

It's the Thanksgiving weekend up here in the GWN, and also my Mom's b-day Monday.
Will be smoking a turkey today .... in my ECB.  :-\ :-\  It will be fine.  :o ;)

Looks good, Craig.  Did the potatoes cook faster/better with the nails? I picked some up too but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Thanks for the compliments guys! The potato nails work nicely. They cut the time down from an hour to about 30-35 minutes. I left mine on for about 40 minutes though. I used to use foil and leave them on the cooking grate and that takes too long. I love Ken's (1Buckie) "basement" method of keeping them downstairs with the coals doesn't burn them at all.

I just noticed how messy my dinner table looked in that photo... kind of embarrassed.  :-[

It's a good dam thing 'cause I woulda got kicked outta here a year ago if messy was a criteria !!!!

Glad the basement deal works good for ya......those nail things are great.....don't have the individual Weber ones, but a stabber thing that works the same......I can get the race car effect by setting it on top of a firebrick, which heats great !!!!
