Today was the day when I had nothing left to do but start painting the cart. that's the scariest part of this process for me (so far.) Once I start painting, I'm pretty much committed. Here's the result.

I could have stopped here I suppose, but things looked OK.

The color is more obvious on the top side of the bottom rack.

Overall I'm happy with the result. I was looking for something that was a little more orange and that's what I got. Here are the details on the stain.

Same here......I'm hoping it'll be some kind of "Wise Men Stand on the Shoulders of Giants" kinda thing........probably end up more like "Wise-achers Stand on Their Tip-toes  Looking Over the Fence at How Giants Do This....." kinda thing, but THANK YOU for detailing all this stuff.....

It looks really sharp......what kind / color / type of stain / paint has been rolling around in my head since I 1st saw mine......they said it's some kind of No. California wood in the original literature.....redwood, maybe, but at any rate your choice works out just exactly right from where I sit !!!!

That's coming along nicely! I love the finish!  :D

I used to work for 'Depot and Sikkens brand must be new? We didn't have that when I was working there.

Looks goo Hank. I almost used Behr Cedar from HD. It's similar, but I decided to just use tongue oil because you have to keep stains up. Yours is sure going to look nice though. :)

Sikkens is awesome stuff. I never saw that at Home Depot before either. I hope they didn't cheapen up their product to sell there. Looks great!
