I have just gotten word that the slide-aside lid holder for charcoal kettles has been discontinued by Weber. I talked to the CSR at Weber and she confirmed that they have 151 left in stock and when they are gone, that's it. I know a lot of people aren't big fans of the slide aside, however it's better than that little hook on the inside of the lid IMO. My suggestion is if you're wanting one, you better get one while there is still a few left.
This is the original Weber kettle. The most powerful bbq grill in the world and can blow your taste-buds clean off! So, you have to ask yourself one question: "Do you feel hungry? Well, do you punk?"

Thanks Ramsfan, I like the slide aside and use it all the time on my old grills. Please share the part number and price.

Not surprised. That thing has to be a SOB to ship. Lot's of air in that box. (Is it sold in a box?)

I struggle with all of the accessories that attach to the rim of the bowl because it breaks the "seal" between the bowl & lid. If that wasn't the case then I'd probably be all over one.

Coincidentally, I've found that the classic (not Style) tool hooks hang pretty nicely on the rim of a wine barrel, and the top serves as a decent prep table.

I didn't like the slide aside because I couldn't put on a weber kettle cover with it attached.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

CBPeck, I never had a problem with my own toolholder but ymmv. I am still able to shut down the kettle no problem.

I love my slide aside and have not had any problems with the lid sealing. I take it off and store it in the kettle before I put the cover on.

The only thing I use less than ash pans is covers. :D

The slide aside is a must have, I love mine. When I am done cooking I simply
lay it face down on the grate put the lid on and then the cover. I am going to
buy a couple of these. If Weber advertised them better they would sale more. I
found it by accident searching their site. This is a travesty if you ask me. I have
no leakage around the lid with mine on.

I just tried to order a couple of these from weber.com and they appear to be outta stock. Part number is 8411 btw

I tried an hour ago and no luck

you guys are pretty convincing. Maybe I should give it a shot.

WHY WOULD THEY STOP MAKING THIS!

The slide aside works much better than the one that comes
on performers, this thing goes full vertical.

I use mine on a 26" and the cover goes on no problem....

It appears as though people are already hoarding these things and trying to sell them on ebay. This is going to be like the Twinkie when Hostess stopped making them last November.
