Did Weber discontinue their starter cubes?
« on: August 04, 2023, 07:28:32 AM »
I LOVE the Weber starter cubes, and have been using them for years.  Last summerish they become harder to find in store.  This year I can't find them instore any where and even online at places like Amazon or Walmart they aren't in stock all the time.  Does anyone know if they discontinued them or something else going on that is making them harder to find?

They still sell them at Ace, like Joe said as well as Lowe’s and Home Depot. Haven’t seen them at local (St Louis) Walmarts and Targets in years.

Yeah here in Northern NJ I have not been able to find them in a Walmart, or Target for about the last 18 months. I don't think I have any ace hardware stores really nearby, I'll have to check some Home Depots.

The last time I looked at Wallyworld (2 months ago or so) they didn't have
a single Weber product at my local store.  They are available online though.

Can you say anything about why they've become so difficult to find in store? Is this just on those places deciding to not stock them or something else?

I saw some at Home Depot and Lowe's today. Lowe's was $6.99 and HD was $11.99. I was hoping they would be on clearance but they weren't. I am down to my last half box of them. I was thinking about trying some tumbleweeds but HD wanted like $14 for a box of 12.

Amazon has 4 packs of 24 cubes for $23 and will have them in your hands by Sunday . . . That's about $6 per pack . . .

They have the single boxes of 24 cubes for $5.49 which would be a $2.00 savings but it won't let me add them to my cart! Oh well, it's not like they go bad! Thanks Big Dawg!

I use Tumbleweeds made by royal oak.  Box of 16 at Publix is $4.99.  Been using them for years.

Interesting product.   Looks like it would be very useful for a fireplace or pit, maybe even an offset.  I'm not sure how many "softball" sized handfuls are in that $37 bag . . .
