I picked up a really battered up 22" green kettle 3 or 4 months ago. I finally got around to making a pizza oven out of it. I grabbed the grate off my good kettle for fitment, I'll either pick up a grate or make something for this later on. I'll give it a try this evening. I found it in on the side of the road for trash pick up, I have to say, this is the first time I've ever grabbed something out of someones pile for trash pickup. I couldn't leave it. The lid was in no way near the shape of a circle, looked like something either fell on it or it flew out of the back of a truck and got run over. Anyway, I straightened the lid best I could. Made some legs for it. Welded some tabs to raise the grate. And cut a slot in the lid. Anxious to try it out tonight.

You could've probably left the bottom lip of the lid then have the pizza stone/steel roughly 3"-5" above the stock cooking grate.

It worked VERY well!! Honestly, I had it too hot. Pizza's came out good with a light smokey flavor.
