Hi all, I just joined the forum today and found that you have a heap of info hear. I currently have and love my Weber Family Q however I am interested in getting into smoking and am looking for recommendations on which way to go. I am really attracted to the Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5" or go a kettle (spoilt for choice I guess), don't need anything bigger as it's just the wife and I and the occasional visitors. I look forward to any recommendations and the reason why you would go that way.
Chris.

Welcome to the wkc from Plainfield Indiana USA.  A 22 kettle is very versatile.  It’ll sear, roast, and smoke.  That would be my recommendation.  The kettle is easier to use and clean.  It also has a ton of accessories available.   It’s portable.  It comes in colors.

That said, I own an 18 wsm, it’s a fine cooker and a better as a smoker but not as flexible.
