First pork butt on 22 original

I found a 4lb bone in butt on sale at the butcher and I immediately grabbed it. 
What are some tips for my first try?

I plan to attempt the snake method with some hickory tossed in. I don't have grate or lid thermometer to monitor grill temps. What can I do ?

I did 2x1 snake held at 230ish the whole time intake was set to about half open and top wide open. I do suggest, every hour and a half 2 hours rotate it 180. Last time i did one i just let it roll and the side that was facing the coals was much more tender .

I’d say that’s about the best advice for ya. Everyone does things a little different . Just have to find what works best for you !

Thanks for advice.  I have heard it is difficult to screw up a pork butt.  Makes me a little less concerned.

Try using an oven thermometer.  Just a few bucks and gives you fairly accurate grate temp.

And we are off.  I will post results later tonight.

I ended up pulling some of that hickory. Didn’t want too hot a burn.

Update
Took way longer than expected due to stall.  I did end up wrapping it to push through.  Thanks everyone for the advice.
Very tasty and moist!

That was first section that I shredded for my wife.  Sauced it with a Hawaiian style blend as promised.
