Spiral Sliced Ham
« on: June 03, 2019, 03:02:54 AM »
When $4.99 Carando Spiral Sliced Ham is on sale for .99/ lb you buy first, figure out how to smoke it later.

Might have been the easiest thing I’ve ever smoked on the @webergrills 22 inch kettle.
Took it out of the package, glazed it with a mix of Coca Cola and honey and rubbed it with a Turbinado/Brown Sugar mix.

Smoked at 275 for three hours til 135 internal temp, spritzing with the glaze every half hour.

Smokey Joe Black, Smokey Joe Lime Green, Original Kettle Premium Black,'92 Red OTS, Yellow Simpson's 22, 78 Red MBH, '80 Black MBH, '10 Brick Red Performer,'12 Grass Green Performer, '03 Blue SSP, '97 Blue SSP, 18 inch WSM

Looks awesome!  I've been wanting to try Alton Brown's ginger snap crust city ham recipe on the grill, but I don't know if gluten-free gingersnaps will work very well.

I've never seen the Carando brand down here in Southern Virginia.

That does seem rather on the superb side but the package says fully cooked.. did it dry out too much when you smoked it?
Beer! It's what's for dinner...

They call it twice smoked when you do it on the kettle.  Plenty of videos on Youtube if you check.   I looked at Malcolm Reed's.

Fair enough. I expect you served it with twice-baked potatoes (not shown) :D

Oh I do love the 2X smoked ham...
Always do the spiral slice and (most important) use the ham with natural juices rather than the ham and water product...HUGE difference in flavors...

Nice job...

Looks great Joe. That's how I always do my hams, although seasonings may vary.

That looks really good!  I can almost taste the day-after sandwiches.  I'll have to give that a try at the cabin.

I neither confirm nor deny that statement.
