HAS ANYONE REMOVED THE IGNITER BOX PERMANENTLY AND WHAT DID YOU FILL THE HOLE WITH? AND DID IT AFFECT PERFORMANCE AT ALL?
I WANT TO MOUNT THIS INTO MY BBQ ISLAND, AND WITH THE CURRENT TRIPOD AND IGNITER BOX ITS SUPER AWKWARD TO FIT RIGHT.

Shouldn't effect performance whatsoever as long as you cap the hole off. I've yet to see someone do it so I'm not sure what would work best to cap it, but you could easily do it using a bolt, flat washers, and some high temp gasket material.

There's a Summit owners Facebook page.  I think they'll have the answer.  I've seen this topic there before.

Just an update I did remove the igniter box. The summit looks slick.

It's good to hear the project is still going. I can't wait to see the finished results.

What did you use to plug the hole(s)?

Most people use a bolt, washers, and nuts.  If you look closely at his pictures that seems to be the case here.  I would go further to recommend using stainless steel hardware just to not allow any rust to form.
ISO: 18" & 22" Lime, 22" Cado, Plum SSP, Clean & Colored 18" for Midget Mod, and the usual Grails.
