... in kitchen between pushes on Sunday, my Friday. After sending the "I ain't out early today"text. The plan was to run out of town for the night... between conversation I spotted something on fb...

First to message... cool. "Hello is this still available"

*crickets

Hour later. "Yes... with extras."

"Can we meet tomorrow? Tonight's my Friday and I won't be out of kitchen till well after 9"
(Sent 715)

815... "sure"

Get home fire up steak and eggs on the chief bummed cause there'd be no trip with the fam to the ocean.

As I wake up the next morning to get the kids ready wife says... 'fuck it I'm playing hooky let's get on the road!"

Ocean bound it is then... quick on my toes I suggest I grab coffee all while reaching out to Mike in Roseville, aka my neighbor. Mike agrees to agent I pass the seller a story as to why i can't pick up can I pay and have my friend grab for me. Seller says no payment through app she will however hold till end of day as previously promised.  Good thing there's coffee en route to Mike's.... I  slide him the cash and bounce after reminding him I'm impatient as fuck please keep me posted... he obliged with a "got it" a few hours later.

*crickets

After hours pass and we are comfortable cooking assorted sausages on the CGA while my youngest plays on the beach. I reach out to Mike who continues being cryptic at best....
Great times were had and we returned home mid afternoon.
I reached out to see if I could take the haul off his hands... no wonder he was tight lipped.

I had to apologize to Matt for keeping him in suspense about everything. ;)

He even asked me about the overall condition of the kettle, but I didn't send him any pics or let on. Told him to enjoy his weekend and it will all be here for him when he gets back to town.

Seriously though, if you guys could have seen the look on Matt's face when I opened the trunk and he saw the table and cover...absolutely priceless!  ;D For a second there I thought he was going to fall over.

Honestly, I was expecting some DIY BBQ table, an old card table, or at best maybe a Weber Sidekick? When I drove up and saw the cover on that kettle with the with the NIB 1901 table box leaning against it, my jaw hit the floor.

It was an epic score...and I was happy to help. Congrats Matt!

Everything about this post kicks ass.  Really love the impromptu decision to play hooky And the CGA roti cook on the beach, looks like your boy is really digging the wienie wheel!  The pristine accessories are so cool.  Amazing collaboration, guys, way to go!

Amazing score.  What's the story behind Weber Alley?  Also, where did you get the stacker for the CGA?

It really is a nice kettle. It looks like it was only cooked on a handful of times and kept covered in a garage it’s whole life. One mystery surrounding it: why is the entire kettle period correct (74-76)...except for the wheels? My best guess is there was probably another Weber in the house at some point and when the owner moved to that newer house they may have simply mixed up the wheels when reassembling?? Either way...it’s in exceptional condition for a 40+ year old grill.
