That’s a dumb question as I’m certain there are.
Our stove top popcorn popper with the handle crank broke long ago and we hadn’t made any until recently.
I was determined to use something I already had. I looked up making popcorn in the cast iron Dutch oven. You can do it but it’s really not the tool for the job.
Our large nonstick works ok but not great.
Then I stumbled on a Alton brown video using a carbon steel wok with a makeshift aluminum foil lid with vent hole poked in it.
Absolutely perfect. My favorite option of what I already own and I really like it better than the handle crank kind because it’s easier to clean. It also helps build seasoning.

My daughter makes it all the time since we discovered this technique. At least she did. I will be moving her to college today. A happy and sad day for me.
