Last night's flat iron got the caveman sear!

Had fajitas for dinner last night and I did the caveman sear on the flatiron using my Weber 18" kettle. Absolutely delicious!

Looks good to me, but not sure I have the guts to do caveman-style on briquettes. Using lump keeps the meat pretty clean in my experience. Did you have to clean off the ash on these steaks before slicing?

@56MPG, not much. I've done it on both lump an briquettes and the ash is close to the same.
