After I saw @Rub 's Jumbo Joe restore I knew what I wanted to do with my outrider.  The grill started like this:

I stripped it down and cleaned it really well. Then the legs and lid bale went to powdercoat to get a coat of textured black.  The vents were all left bare and polished.

Handle looks like crap, but it's too cold to paint it right now.  Otherwise, I might have to see if @zavod44 can come up with something cool for it.

That looks cool!  And, yes, you are correct about the handle ...  ;D ;) ;)
I'm sure Zav can come up with something.

Was high temperature paint used for the lid bale and legs??
Just wondering as the areas that are close or touching the bowl could be susceptible to peeling and such when exposed to heat.
Whichever happens, it helps clear-up any former rust issues.
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

@MacEggs Legs and lid bale are all powdercoated.  I also used fiber washers on the legs to isolate them a little.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

That looks great.
I just grabbed one of Brian's handles for my Jumbo.
It sits a touch higher than the plastic.
Bale locks nice and tight.
Much quieter when carrying without the lid being loose.

I'm sure it will end up with a handle like yours @kneab, just need to figure what wood.

Comes down to personal preference.
My all-time favourite wood is .... mahogany.  That's what is on my Outrider.  Looks so classy.  :D

Nice job Neil. I like Brian's handles for these. Guess I need three to start with the Outriders.

My outrider got it's new hardware today. Love the new Ebony handle from Brian.  The pictures don't do the grill or the handle justice. This is definitely one of my favorites!
