Just picked this K up today.

Would it be blasphemous to drill holes and add a lid lock? Kinda want too but am unsure if I wanna drill into it

Foster Dahlet

It is not blasphemy.  It is your grill.  Do what you want to it.....unless you don't have the skills and can't do it well.  But, I am sure you have the skills.  Drill away.
I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

Thats blasphemy right there....C is my birthyear!.....which also happens to be the number of posts you currently have @dazzo
Its amazing how quickly one weber kettle turns into more than a dozen!  Always open to grabbing something interesting so let me know what you've got!

dazzo

I got kids older than you

Well that's a "hole" different story

What's your address - I'll send it to you!

Seriously

This seems to be one of the only online communities where I'm considered part of the young crowd lol.  I appreciate it and all, but I'm in NY and am expecting delivery of at least 2 kettles in the mail this week as well as have plans to pickup a ssp later tonight.  Birth  year kettle would be nice and all but just not the right time for it.  I'm sure I'll stumble upon one locally sooner or later!

Why spend the $, time & effort?

Keep an eye out and you'll no doubt run across a SJ Gold with a lid lock that even costs less than a new lid lock in the first place.

Hal

Lol I have one. I just really like how the wire legs look. I have a C wire leg this K I just got a sj gold and an 18 out rider.

I drilled my smokey joe and added lid lock.  It's mine and I cook on it and for travel I needed the lid lock.  Totally worth it.  Just make sure you measure twice!

Schaefd2

Go for it! Cut twice measure once or something like that lol
Just post about it on the mod forums and show us the result!

Ok, now I get it.

I'll answer your question with a question.

Would it be blasphemy to do it to a offset handle SJ (assuming it would work)?

If the answer is yes, your kettle may one day be as rare.

Do what makes you happy.

Neil_VT00

I'm with Darko.  It's your grill, do what makes it most useful for you.
