Tip roast sunday
« on: September 18, 2017, 06:50:18 AM »
I dug out the old statesman.  I don't know how old this is, never really used it, but it has thumbscrews, a bent leg and a janked up ash catcher.  The lip pretty much fits ok, better then the blue one which is kinda outta round.  But when it heats up, that lid LOCKS on.

Anyway.. Tip roast at 2-3/4lbs.  Sugar, salt, pepper, garlic.  KBB and cherry wood chips, miller lite, some jam bands on Pandora... Center cooked to 145, the outer just the right amount of doneness for my wife that likes it medium.

I really don't like taking many pictures.  People ask about my guitars all the time and yes.. I'm really that lazy.

Looks like a nice Ball Tip roast.

Also, sounds like you had a fun time cooking it. The brown sugar really put a nice crust on it!

Regular white sugar!

Yeah.. I even went to a regular butcher, no tri tip.  But this turned out exactly as I wanted so no complaints.  and I know where to get good ones now.

I guess technically it's not a Statesman as this is a 60s model.  Eh.. what's in a name?

WAIT!!  I stand corrected as I mentally mixed up the name in my mind -it IS a 1960s Statesman..
