This was a really fun cook!
The sun added a 2 hour delay to the start of shooting video, which also meant it got dark before I finished.

This was my first time using butter.

Just watched the video and reminded me I really need to make them. Those look amazing. Do you think the butter made a noticeable difference?

Yes. Next time I will use more brown sugar, butter, and no bbq sauce.

I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos, they are very entertaining and actually make me want to try things on the grill I've never cooked before. Thanks. I will give these pork belly burnt ends a try, with butter, brown sugar and no BBQ sauce. (BTW - love the grill mitts!)

Your first time using butter. You have never used butter? Were you raised by vegan gluten-free hippies?

That was a great cookup. And I appreciate that you leave mistakes in and don't edit the crap out of the video. Nice job, you've convinced me to try that cook.

I meant it was my first time using adding butter while making bbq pork belly. :P
I love butter. The real shit, not that parkay. I will often have a variety of butters in my fridge: kerrygold irish butter, cali grassfed sweet cream butter, and a good unsalted.

Thanks for the words and feedback on the video. You should definitely try it, but I wouldn't recommend using a half belly unless you're feeding a crowd.
My family ate those burnt ends for 4 days straight and my heart is PISSED OFF at me right now.

Also, Instead of bbq sauce - add a good fruit syrup or even grape jelly.

The technique can literally go a million ways. Curry, chili, teriyaki, greek.

I've only done this once.  My favorite bites were before I added any sauce, butter, or sugar.  In other words, I think pork belly is heavenly with just rub and smoke.  However, I made the mistake of not placing them back on the grill to caramelize the sauce after I cooked covered.  That probably had a lot to do with it, but I will say I love my belly naked.

Nice edit and good tips.  Next time I'll grill them up at the end.  Also, save yourself a chef snack pre-sauced next time and see what you think.

Those were beef, but the same applies from my personal standpoint.....if I wanna taste a bunch of BBQ sauce, I'll just get a straw & go straight from the bottle....

Busy....and tired all the time nowadays....

Did a big throwdown for my Sunday sort-of church group & had so much leftover I  brought it (with a little fresh cooked stuff) to work on a scheduled day off & stuffed all those folks full....fun is still being had....... 8) 8)
