Hey all, finally finished my Genesis project that I started last spring. Cut and stained the slats, sandblasted the firebox and lid side panels and collected a few needed parts. Then our youngest daughter was born 3 months early. Needless to say, the genesis went on the back burner. Our baby is now thriving, thank the good Lord. So I got back at it a few weeks ago. My plan is to keep this grill forever so I went all out. The manifold, burners, igniter, flavorizers, grates, wheels, bottom tray, catch pan holder, warming racks, knobs and thermometer are all brand new. I found a new old stock set of the heavy ss summit grates and the flavorizers are rcplanebuyer. I used Rustoleum high heat ultra for all the metal, golden oak stain and helmsman for the slats. The toughest decision was the lid color. I had a few options in the bone yard, I opted for the dark charcoal gray lid, thought it looked the nicest. I believe it was a Target offering back in the day. I wanted to use the original emblem but there was a little porcelain flaking on the lid around the edges so I used a larger new version to cover it up. Unfortunately I don't have any before pics, I kind of pieced it together from multiple donors.... Looking forward to years of good cooks on this grill and passing it on to my daughters someday, along with a bunch of kettles!
