Anyone have a good recommendation for stainless 18.5 grates?  Looking at the two below.

Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

I bought the second one from  Quality Grill Parts, LLC on amazon.   I have not yet used it, but was impressed by it.  It is very solid and much heavier than a standard grate.  The bars are also thicker than your basic ones.  Looking forward to using it once my current one is done.

I have not used Stainless yet. I stocked up last year (and they are discounted now too) on the hinged 18" grates from Target. They seem to hold up well enough and are under $10 right now.

This.  Think they might go under $5 at some stores.

I know the one at Easton had 3 or 4 last weekend. I was going to grab more, but I think my wife would have killed me. I have to have at least 10 of them laying around..

I give $7.98 in the Fort Worth area last weekend.

If SS is what you want then you've gotta step up and pay the SS price, and when you do you'll never go back to plated ever again.
Now all my SS grates are from weber and they clean up well. On my last smoke on the 22" it was a week later when I cleaned it and it looks brand new again.

All my 22" have SS grates. Link below. I really like the fact that they won't rust and they should last a really long time.  I still may go the SS route on the 18, does Weber sell an 18 hinged SS grate?

Ive got weber 18.5 and 22.5" weber oem hinged ss grates...love them....pricey but no more rusted grates

I view it as an investment...and saves money over a given number of years which is obvious

Don't know if Weber makes 18" SS cooking grates.  The part number for a Weber 22" SS grate with flip up sides is #80728 ($72).  That will give you a place to start with Weber CS.  My experience has been that the reps can not find the SS grates if you don't have the part number.  They usually tell me Weber does make SS grates for the 22" until I give them the part number.

Here is s SS grate without flip ups made by KillaGrilla ($57):

You can also contact and buy directly from Mark Baron (owner) of KillaGrilla and see if he makes a SS 18" grate with flip up sides    @ bellexinc@msn.com   (615) 533-4019     website : http://killagrilla.com/

The KillaGrilla SS grates are really heavy and the gauge of the rods are massive. I love them.   Here is a review I did on them.

Yes weber makes SS hinged grates for the 18" grill. P/N 80730 price is more than the 22". I think $80

I picked up a 22" Weber GBS grate for my MT and I love it! Cost a lot but worth every penny as an investment !
The chrome sucks on all the new production from Weber in my opinion, I have had the chrome burn off of some on the first cook. ( non sear )
In the last batch of project grills I have found a nice assortment of factory Weber SS grates to add to my collection.
I scored 2x 18" flip up grates and 1x 18" standard style  and 1x 22"  flip up and 1x 22" standard style... all in SS !
I think I'm set for this life time!

Am I the only one that hordes SS grates ?
